A few useful answers.
Please reach us at info@contessaconsulting.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
When is the best time to travel to Sicily?
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the best periods, with a mild climate and fewer crowds. August is best avoided for the heat; winter is popular for hiking Mount Etna and for the art cities.
What can a journey with Contessa include?
Every journey is tailor-made to your tastes — our team helps you choose what to experience on the ground. It can take in classic destinations such as Palermo, Mount Etna and the Valley of the Temples, or lesser-known places: small local producers and wineries with remarkable food and wine, and time at sea aboard a private yacht or catamaran. Contact us to discover everything we can arrange for you.
Can you accommodate specific diets?
Yes. Let us know at the time of booking about any dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) or food intolerances, so the food and wine experiences can be planned fully with our local partners.
What clothing do you recommend?
Light, comfortable clothing for April–October, with a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. For winter, warm, layered clothing.
How long should a trip to Sicily be?
It is entirely up to you — our journeys are fully customizable. On average a trip ranges from a few days to two weeks or more on the island.
Is it safe to travel to Sicily?
Yes. Sicily is a hospitable place, and we take care of everything — our local partners are prepared for any unforeseen events. A few misconceptions shouldn't shape your expectations of the island.
Are excursions to Etna safe?
Etna is the largest volcano in Europe and among the most active in the world, but it is not dangerous for walkers accompanied by an experienced guide. Excursions can include the main crater when there is no ongoing magmatic activity, and the secondary craters — which can also be visited during active periods, offering exceptional displays of moving lava.
How does planning with Contessa work?
It starts with a conversation. You tell us what you have in mind; our team then designs a tailor-made itinerary, refines it with you, and handles the bookings and coordination — from where you stay to how you move and who you meet.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can — especially for spring and autumn, and for villas or particular experiences, which are limited and reserve well ahead.
Do you arrange private groups and special occasions?
Yes — celebrations, honeymoons, private dinners and small-group journeys, as well as private events and pop-ups in Italy and the USA.
